Nemonics Media is the creator of QuoteTh.is, a social web app that makes it dead-simple to share quotes with your social networks. We’re building a disruptive toolset for online content creators that promotes sharing, boosts traffic, and focuses the interest graph. We have our core technology built and are ramping up to conduct real-world validation tests on a series of major blogs. We’re looking for a few highly talented, driven, and fun interns to work with us through the next several months as we shoot for some very exciting goals.
About Nemonics and QuoteTh.is:
We are Jacob Gordon (nationally syndicated social media journalist) and Nathan Loyer (former senior open source web architect for Asurion). We run Nemonics using best practices from lean startup, customer development, and agile development methodologies, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Nemonics is a seed-funded startup with a prominent board of directors and advisors. We have secured letters of intent from major online publications, and have strong ties to the online media world and the business community.
QuoteTh.is was among the ten ventures featured in the Scene’s 2011 innovation issue, the winner of the People’s Choice Award in digital media at this year’s TN NEXT technology expo, and we are applying to the prominent and highly-competitive TechStars incubator program. We operate out of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, the premier locus of startup activity in Nashville, the HQ of Startup Tennessee (the statewide branch of Startup America), an amazing place to work.
QuoteTh.is is a highly scalable, consumer-facing web product that enhances online written content and boosts reader engagement through the sharing of quotations. You can see a video demo of QuoteTh.is here.
These intern opportunities are Nashville-based, have flexible hours, and will be a combination of in-person and remote. Pay will start at $8/hr, but is negotiable based on qualifications and overall amazingness.
Web Design:
We’re looking for…
- Strong graphic design skills
- Strong layout and markup skills
- Some graphic art is a plus
- HTML, CSS, Adobe Tools or equiv. (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc.)
Major bonuses:
- Mobile design, JavaScript, jQuery, JQTouch or other touch framework, knowledge of GitHub.
Web Development:
We’re looking for…
- Strong JavaScript and jQuery skills
- Strength in at least one backend: Ruby (preferred), Python, PHP
- Some experience with a DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc. and/or ORM
Major bonuses:
- REST, web services, Heroku, Sinatra, mobile web, VM management and deployment, systems administration, native mobile apps, knowledge of GitHub.
