Who is Nemo?

Turn over a Nemonics Media business card and there is an angelic face peeking back at you. That’s Nemo, the namesake of our company and one of the most enchanting mammals you’d ever care to meet.

Nemo and Shane (his brother, best friend, and life partner) are an endless source of inspiration, encouragement, and walks (don’t underestimate the power of walks on the brain and body!). But my company gained its name after Nemo showed up in a dream. I was in Los Angeles with my friend Tasha while she was in treatment for thyroid cancer. A stressful time, to say the least (she’s since made a full recovery and works at the Applied Minds think tank and Ray Kurzweil’s Singularity University). A winged Nemo alighted into my dream and told me what to call the company. Always a nuanced and feisty wit, he combined his own name with the elegant concept of a mnemonic device (a learning technique that aids memory). Smart kid.
